Then subject walked around the
side of his car and approached me. As he did this, he did not appear to be
stopping and walked right up to my chest. I stopped him at this point with my
hand to his chest, as my back was towards Lake Cook Rd, a busy 4 lane 50 MPH
roadway.As I did this I asked him if he had a driver`s license, to which he
appeared to snap out of his catatonic type state. He said NO, and I then asked
him for some identification. He ignored this and began to fiddle with his keys
he had dangling from a chain on his belt.
He then quickly turned his
attention towards me, walked into me again. I again stopped him with my hand to
his chest.
He then lunged and grabbed my duty firearm. I reacted quickly, as
he barely got a hold of my gun, and Bitch Slapped him in the left ear. Needless
to say, he went down like a ton of Shit.
I jumped on top of him and
immediately told dispatch to have the units expedite.
I then had an off-duty
officer from another town pull over and identify himself and ask if I needed
assistance.
We then cuffed him.As I was searching him, I asked what his
Fucking problem was, and he just kept repeating “Just Shoot Me!”.
I don’t
know what would have happened if I had not been trained by you and Jonas for
this type of situation, I can only speculate.
He attacked another officer in
the lock-up, and had to be controlled again. He eventually was transported to
the hospital for a Psychological evaluation.
I also later found out that on
01-28-00, that he had received Felony Probation for Reckless Discharge of a
Firearm. I am very lucky he was not armed !!!
I am convinced it is because of
your training that I am here another day to see my Lovely wife Leslie Ann, and
my Wonderful son Nils. I can`t forget Duke either!!
Scott was upset he wasn`t
there to see the guy drop when I nailed him..,.. As I was transporting the
prisoner into the station, I typed Scott… “All I can say is that I love Jonas
and Slavo”…He knew what I meant…Enuff said…
I realize I probably should
have done a few things different, and I know that I am not perfect, but when
push came to shove, I slapped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
